In March 1985, Volvo Car Corporation showed the result of yet another cooperation in the field of luxury between Sweden and Italy, the Volvo 780, designed and built by Bertone in Turin. The event took place on the Volvo Cars stand at the Geneva Motor Show.
Exclusive Volvo coupes made in smaller series as top models have been around since the early 1960s. Volvo realised early the importance of expanding into new market segments with the help of such cars, hereby making more customers interested in the less exclusive models.

The Volvo V70 is now offered with Volvo’s two new five-cylinder diesel engines. The engines are a perfect combination of low fuel consumption, high performance and low noise levels. In addition, there are three V70 DRIVe models available as well. One with a 1.6-litre diesel and two Flexifuel (E85) versions; the 2.0F and 2.5FT.

- DRIVe version - 1.6D with a fuel consumption 4.5 l/100 km and 119 g/km CO2

The environmentally conscious Volvo customer can now buy a diesel-powered Volvo V70 or S80 with CO2 emissions as low as 119 g/km – corresponding to fuel consumption of just 4.5 l/100 km.
This means that over the past year or so, Volvo Cars has succeeded in delivering five models with emissions below 120 g/km.
“There has been a swift pace of development since the launch of our first 119-gram models in Paris in autumn 2008. The fact that we have now brought two of the larger models in our range below the magical 120 gram limit shows that few of our competitors can match us when it comes to offering customers increasingly green cars,” says Volvo Cars President and CEO Stephen Odell.
